I have been a scent junkie for as long as I can remember. When I was thinking about my next blog post, I was obviously trying to think of what are some of my absolute FAVOURITE beauty products. And of course, I realized – PERFUME! I am a perfume hoarder! I am definitely a person who is always wearing some sort of scent whether it be from perfume, hair products or body lotions – most of the time though, it’s all three! This is definitely a trait that I get from my dad – that man is all about making sure he smells gooooood!
I never leave the house without putting on perfume. I have my tried and true fragrances but I’m always mixing it up and putting on what I feel in that moment. Scent can draw you to a person as they can be so irresistible! Scent actually transforms on each person because of everyone’s own pH level. It can also depend on what someone eats or what body products they use (i.e. body wash, lotion, deodorant, etc.). Scent is powerful in a way that it can really say so much about a person. It is something that is unique to each individual and their style. For me, scent can make me feel confident or lift my mood up if I’m feeling down. It is also the finishing touch to all of my looks. I never feel like I’m ready to walk out the door unless I have some perfume on.
Different scents evoke different memories for me. So much so that there are even some scents I will not wear again because of what they remind me of! Good and bad – there are some scents that remind me of when I was younger so I don’t feel comfortable wearing them anymore. I think that scent can be incredibly personal.
My favourite fragrances of all time include: Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel (My #1!), Angel by Thierry Mugler, Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf and Haute Couture by Givenchy. I clearly love a very strong, musky scent. I always feel the most confident and beautiful when I apply these fragrances. I do love lighter fragrances as well but I always end up going back to my classics!
As personal as fragrance can be to people, application of fragrance can be just as personal. Some like to spritz a little bit of perfume just on their neck while others will spray it in the air and walk through the cloud. However, for me – I definitely go over board! Every morning, I will shower, lotion my entire body and apply perfume to not only my skin but clothing as well. I want to ensure that my scent lasts all day! Another trick I learned (thank you Pinterest) is to add Vaseline to the hot spots of your body (neck, wrist, inner elbow, back of knees) and apply your fragrance over top to last longer!
If you are looking to try a new scent and do not want to spend all that money only to find the aroma isn’t for you – go to your local Sephora and ask for a sample of a fragrance you would like to try!
