Drugstore Haul

Wedding season has begun and I have had to re-stock my kit and pick up a few essentials for myself (who’s kidding who – I don’t need an excuse, but I am using “wedding season” to justify my purchases)! I picked up some wonderful little items and wanted to share with you all what I got.

NOTE: Some of these items are so new that I haven’t even opened them yet so I am not sure how I feel about them. I did purchase most of these products based on reviews online.

1. e.l.f. Makeup Remover Pen

I was so excited when I came across this product! Now, I haven’t tried this yet, but I am super excited to test this little baby out to help with cleaning and carving liner and shadow looks. I hope this works as well as I hope it does! It seems like it may be too good to be true, but for around $4 – why not give it a try!?

2. e.l.f. Smudge Brush and Defining Eye Brush

I picked up a few e.l.f. makeup brushes last year and was really surprised! The ones I purchased were all under $5, some even as low as $1.97. One of them was a disappointment (I can’t remember what the brush was exactly, but it had a black handle and black bristles that felt like plastic and just didn’t work at all), but the others were fantastic! I couldn’t believe how awesome the brushes were for such a cheap price! I researched what other brushes I should purchase from e.l.f. and these two were highly recommended. I haven’t used them yet, but I am sure they are just as great as the other gems I purchased!

3. e.l.f. Daily Brush Cleaner

This is my go-to for my makeup kit! Daily Brush Cleaner seems to be hard to come by in drugstores. On the other hand, purchasing Daily Brush Cleaner at Sephora can get pricey when they start around $10 and you use as much as professional makeup artists do. I found this product last summer at Walmart for around $4 and it seems to be sold out every time I go back! I have just started buying them in bulk online from Walmart.

4. e.l.f. Makeup Mist and Set Spray

This is another go-to for my makeup kit! This is an essential for finishing a makeup look to make it last. Many brands have begun releasing their own setting sprays and I have loved this one from the first time I used it. Just like everything else from e.l.f., it is really inexpensive! I also love the NYX setting sprays, but they seem to be a hot commodity at Shoppers Drug Mart so they aren’t always easy to pick up!

5. e.l.f. Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls

If you haven’t read my post from last week, what are you doing with your life? Just kidding (but not really)!

6. e.l.f. Blush Palette

I picked up this blush palette mainly for my makeup kit. To be honest, I have plenty of blush and do not need anymore, but it just looked so pretty! I used this last weekend on some bridesmaids and I was very impressed! These blushes have great pigmentation and a little bit goes a long way for sure. There is a mix of mattes and shimmers and the shimmer shades are finely milled so they are by no means glittery. I only used the lighter pink shade on the bridesmaids as the darker shades did not suit their colouring or the looks I was doing (they were all sisters so they had similar colouring). However, I did test the other shades out and they are beautiful. This is just a great palette to have because these shades will compliment so many makeup looks.

7. Ardell Glamour Pack

I bought these for my makeup kit. I always have the Ardell Natural lashes, but I decided to add these to my kit as an option for clients who want to go a little more glam! These are more full and dense than the Natural lashes. I absolutely love Ardell lashes! They are a great price and are really easy to work with. They have nice thin band so they are definitely not bulky and are very comfortable on the eye! If you are new to false lashes and want to try a pair, I would highly recommend trying out Ardell lashes!

8. LA Girl HD Pro Conceal Concealer

This is one of those products that kept popping up on Pinterest, YouTube and different beauty blogs. There are so many shades to choose from, it is insane! I ordered this concealer from Walmart online as they don’t carry the brand in store here in Kingston. I tried to colour match as much as I could from swatches I found online, but I was way off. The colour I chose is too dark for me, but the great thing about being a makeup artist is that I can just add it to my kit! This concealer was only $5.99 so super budget-friendly. I did notice when I was testing the colour that it had a great consistency so I really do think this will be a great concealer. I just need to find my shade!

9. LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint in “Whisper”

Again, this is another product that kept popping up online so I had to try it for myself. These Lip Paints are said to be a dupe for Too Faced’s Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick. I love this shade! It is the perfect pale pinky-nude gloss. It has great pigmentation and is made with peppermint oil, castor oil and vitamin e and is definitely more moisturizing than other lip paints on the market. The only downside is the tube application. A lot comes out every time I use it so I find it best to apply with a brush.

10. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation

This is one product that so many YouTubers swear by and I kept meaning to pick it up but never got around to it. I don’t often wear foundation and just stick to concealer for my daily makeup routine. I finally decided to pick it up when Cameran Wimberly (Eubanks) posted about it on Instagram (does anyone else watch Southern Charm!?) I love her style and her makeup so much. She often posts about products she uses (she’s not sponsored by the brands) and is very honest. She mentioned a Wet n Wild Lip Liner awhile back that I picked up and absolutely loved!

I picked up the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation in the shade Sand Beige, but I actually haven’t tried it yet (again, I don’t wear foundation on a daily basis). I plan on trying it out for an upcoming event. Once I try it, I will report back to my little beauties on how it is. I assume it’s great since so many people raved about it! Also, I used to use the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation and it was so amazing, so I have high hopes for the Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation!

11. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick

This is my second purchase of this product. It is my new favourite lip balm as nipple cream stopped working for me (so sad). It smells yummy and is incredibly hydrating! The only downside is it is literally the size, shape and colour of a glue stick so it looks like I am applying glue to my lips. If you see me around town applying what looks like glue – please know that it’s not! On the plus side, since it is so large, it lasts a long time!

And that’s it! I mentioned in my last post how impressed I have been with e.l.f products and I stand by that statement. I plan on trying more e.l.f. products in the future so if you have any e.l.f. products or any other products that you love, please let me know! (Shout out to Heather Kemp for suggesting e.l.f.’s Highlighting Dewy Drops as that is now on my list for my next drugstore haul!)

That’s Y!
